Let me put you on!

Happy Holidays readership, this is EL3G and it’s Christmas Eve here in the States. I figured due to the holiday season the posting may be a little light going into the New Year so why not break you off w/ a special holiday edition of Let Me Put You On! As always there will be two artists spotlighted that you may or may not know but should, and as a special thank you to everyone who has supported the blog I’m going to add some goodies to stuff your Christmas stockings with.

Now let’s shine the spotlight on the two featured artists for this week.

This Portland based producer/emcee and member of Thrilla Music Group is originally from Yonkers, NY. It’s surprising that his production style is so refined, since he grew up listening to his Jamaican Mother’s reggae collection. In 2002 he was introduced to Hip Hop by his girlfriend at the time, who schooled him on the culture and eventually turned him on to the production tool Fruity Loops. He quickly diversified his style and has since been crafting amazing beats and is on his way to a great career in music. I present to you…

Dave Notti x Hi-Res – The New Chill

Next up is a DeeJay/Production team from the Bay Area. This dynamic crew is made up of two people, DJ DaiKatamy & DJ Doctor Who. DJ DaiKatamy a.k.a. Daislo Nakata originally started out as an emcee, but after seeing the Hip Hop documentary “Scratch” he immediately knew what it was he wanted to do in music. He’s only been DJing for about a year or so, starting out by learning vinyl he has quickly become a prolific DJ & producer. DJ Doctor Who is an 80′s baby from the Bay area whose love for Old School Hip Hop, J Dilla, and the Detroit Hip Hop scene prompted him to start doing his own blends back in 2006. The two started working together in the summer of 2009 and learned that they were like minded when it came to their taste in music and styles. I present to you…

IJUSWANNACHILL…and keep my hands around a $100 bill…

What good readership? Ya homie Dunn-D checking in and taking over for EL3G this week on the Boomin’ System. We are coming to the end of 2009 and getting ready to turn the blog on full blast very soon. Keep rocking with us. Now, without further ado and with the new flossy art work courtesy of OkiZoo’s Tek Steez, WE PRESENT…

Boomin-system

A-Trak ft. Lupe Fiasco – Me and my Sneakers

Originally a Lupe contribution for A-Trak’s “Running Man” project for Nike which was exclusive to iTunes, this song was not cleared by Lupe’s record label and thus was tossed  into the shelved project pile. Kid CuDi eventually replaced Lupe on the project, but we’re glad somebody decided to release it, because we prefer this version. (Sorry CuDi)

Hudson Mohawke – Fuse

When I listen to Hudson Mohawke, I can’t even classify what type of music he makes. I just know it bumps!  UK Stand up!

Invincible – Shapeshifters

Invincible isn’t just a dope female emcee, shes dope PERIOD. Here to let you know that music isn’t a mirror to reflect reality, it’s a HAMMER we use to shape it. We’re the Shapeshifters.

Pac Div – No No

The Cali trio of  Mibbs, Like and  BeYoung  are here to let you know what NOT to do. You should NOT sleep on them. Cali Wild.

eLZhi – Deep

It is my humble opinion that eLZhi is one of, if not the best emcee doing it today. The verbal dexterity, cadence, flow, the patterns, plus the sheer knowledge. Well maybe I’m getting to deep, but so is he over this Black Milk production from his “LeftoversUNmixtape. So click the button and find out just how deep.

Mickey Factz – Flying Balloons

From Cookin Soul & Nah Right’s 1:00 A.M. And  Rising mixtape/album. Mickey Factz take us straight  to the top over some  plush instrumentation. We like this version of  Mickey much better than the Heaven’s Fallout version. Hoping for big things from the Bronx native.

Oddisee ft. Phonte – All Because She’s Gone

A track created by Oddisse and a host of others during his stay in Melbourne, Australia for Red Bull Academy in 2006. The Jam Session went from Oddisee building the base of the beat and then contributions from fellow Red Bull Attendees. A nice hook  and verse from Phonte of Little Brother, this is an instant classic.

The KnuX – Fire

The New Orleans hip hop duo of Rah Almillio and Krispy Kream, better know at The KnuX, definitely have there own unique sound. This one right here has that golden era, 90′s boom bop going on. Fire indeed!

Colin Munroe – The Fever Remix (J Dilla dedication)

Ontario, Canada’s Colin Munroe made one of my favorite mixtapes last year with “The Unsung Hero“. This song is a remix/detication to the late J Dilla over one of the greatest beats that he ever created (IMO). The Fever.

Sade - Solider of Love

What more can be said about the silky and mysterious voice of Sade. Sade’s last album was in 2000. 10 years later she has decided to bring us her “Solider of Love” album, which drops Feb. 8 2010. Here is the 1st single which also goes by the same name. She’s no solider anymore, shes a General that we would follow into any battle anywhere with music like this.

EL3G will be back at the helm next week. Till then…
